Admiralty Standard Navigation Charts, “BA Charts” and Publications
Admiralty Standard Navigation Charts (“BA Charts”) and Publications are used by the majority of ocean-going commercial vessels. They cover the navigable waters of the world and are continuously monitored and updated with the latest navigational information.
Chart corrections and updates are issued through Admiralty Notices to Mariners (ANMs), published weekly and numbered according to the week of the year. Additional updating references include:
* NP247 – Annual Summary of Admiralty Notices to Mariners
* NP234A & NP234B – Cumulative List of Admiralty Notices to Mariners, published at six-monthly intervals.
Admiralty Chart Catalogue
Charts can be selected and identified using the **Admiralty Catalogue (NP131)**. If you do not have access to the catalogue, please contact us by email with details of your planned voyage, and we will assist you in identifying the appropriate charts and publications.
Port Approach Guides
Port Approach Guides cover individual ports and provide the information a mariner may require when planning and conducting a port approach. They complement the equivalent Standard Paper Chart or Electronic Navigational Chart (ENC).
Other Chart Products
Routeing Charts are designed to assist with passage planning and ocean voyages. They provide information such as:
* Distances between major ports
* Monthly meteorological conditions
* Oceanographic conditions
* Prevailing weather and sea conditions relevant to route planning
Instructional Charts
Instructional Charts are produced primarily for training and examination purposes. They are not maintained with the latest navigational information and must not be used for navigation.
Tracks Followed by Sailing and Auxiliary-Powered Vessels
Charts such as 5309 and 5310 – General Surface provide information relevant to tracks followed by sailing and auxiliary-powered vessels.
Navigational Publications
These publications provide essential information for passage planning and safe navigation, including:
